  i was just talking to my wife this morning about underlining or highlighting the wt paragraphs.. when i was 13 years old i would fight with my dad because i refused to highlight the answers.. the reason was because i wanted my comment to be genuine.

  i felt that highlighting the "answer" made me lean on just using that as a crutch and not truly putting it in my own words.. i still hold that argument now, and i am 26. the only reason you would ever have to highlight something in a study book would be if you needed to remember it, maybe it is fairly complicated or subtle information that could be easily forgotten.. so many times in the wt the "question" has the same phrase that's in the paragraph!

  it's literally like playing connect the dots.. so what i would do is not highlight during the family study.

  About 10 years ago, a 'friend' of mine in my hall was appointed an MS. He hated it, he wasn't interested in reaching out etc, but he didn't want to turn it down. He only lasted a few months they deleted him as an MS, he moved away didn't hear from him again.

  In a KH about 10 miles away, a guy was appointed an MS, he was big friends with the PO at the time. It came out that he was abusing the children he gave a lift to on the way to the meetings. It had been going on for a number of years. He was appointed right in the middle of it.

  I remember thinking there's no way the 'holy spirit' appoints people. It still took a few years for the wheels to fall off the wagon altogether.

  i am a former dub, born and raised and left at the age of 18. i was baptised at nine, aux pioneer, regular pioneer and around 16 started to see the light.

  my parents give me the heave-ho the day i hit 18 (at midnight, to be precise.

  ) i was marked at 17 for dating a "worldly".

  Welcome cherrypye!

  Next time your mother preaches to you, say something like 'you're not the only religion that claims to have 'the truth', or 'hundreds of religions claim to have the 'the truth' have you studied all the others?'. In my experience it stops them dead, i said it to my sister once it was as if she couldn't process what i'd said to her.

  it seems as if they have survived it all.

  bad press such as articles on molestations, neutrality, blood, defections of high ranking officials, crazy changes in doctrines, financial stresses, passage of a 100 years without one prophecy coming true.

  yet they are still going strong with new members being recruited at a faster level than those who leave.

  IMO.

  1. Someone high profile with unlimited financial resources could put unrelenting pressure on the GB, non-stop constant hammering through the media, lawsuits etc. The GB would eventually crack i'm convinced. Force the GB to make massive doctrine/policy changes that would be the last straw for millions who already are quietly doubting.

  2. Stop the preaching work. Every 'apostate' knock 1000 doors. Offering the householder the option of becoming a DO NOT CALL. I've done it with loads of my clients, not one of them has refused the option. I write down what they need to say. It wouldn't completely stop the preaching but it would greatly reduce the territory. Before my family shunned me they would always say 'we're the only ones preaching the good news' when i tried to expose the WT to them. Again would force many to question 'the truth' and if it was done worldwide no doubt a change in policy.

  Just my opinion.

  i, like otwo in another thread, never really had a bad experience with jws.

  i never had any case of molestation come up in the the many congregations i served in.

  i never had any major beefs with any elder body.

  Great post JNFB.

  An MS in my last hall left before i did. He was a super intelligent electronics expert. Someone disproved the flood to him, he was gone within 6 months.

  What exactly did the guy you met say about the flood that you couldn't disprove?

  Crazy!

  I've got one. An elder's sister in-law from my last hall bought a second hand ornament from a market stall. She apparently had a 'bad' feeling about it. When she got home she put the ornament down and went upstairs to use the toilet, when she got there staring back at her was Kate Bush's face in the toilet bowl. Apparently Kate Bush is a spiritualist. The woman threw out the ornament and never had any 'problems' since. Hilarious!

  i text my little girls friends mum today as her daughter left some clothes (funnily enough, they were army pants and a t shirt, what ever happened to not supporting the army by not wearing calmoflage print etc!!!)..

  i told her i would put them in a bag and told her she could call in for them whenever she was passing... anyway i just had my reply, hi, just keep them, *** will be out of them by next year anyway, so *** may as well just have them.

  hope your all ok...x. so i take it thats her in basic words sayin... keep them cus i dont want to see you again and your apostate influence... i knew people would take this approach to our decision to not continue going to the meetings but i just am really struggling to deal with it without feeling like i have a disease that they do not want to catch :(.

  It's not nice bez i agree, i just genuinely feel sorry for them. I literally just a passed a jw 'friend' of mine. He tried his best to ignore me but i wouldn't let him. It gets easier to cope with, i just laugh now. Best wishes.

  no more lurking...hello eveyone

  about a year ago i went through a mild meltdown.

  it hit me fast i had panic attacks and became angry with all the control in my life.

  (being a jw) i had just found out i was being screwed on a real estate development project by another self righteous jw i have known for a long time but this was a big loss (about 4 months pay plus expenses).

  The Greatest Lesson the Watchtower Ever Taught Me

  the greatest lesson that the watchtower has taught me is to give the love that has been taken from me.

  our mother shuns my brother and me to the extreme.

  just this morning she told me on the phone from her hospital bed that we will have to learn her diagnosis through the grapevine.. she wasn't always like this.
